A Monet Morning

As  Dorothy looked at the landscape through the fog and heard the plaintive chirrupping of the Sandhill Cranes. she thought it looked like a Monet landscape.  The Princess Buttercup, her large standard poodle, had no comment. . . . . David, Sf.G.

Overboard

Ezzy knew her husband, E-Man, used to watch some fishing show where the host released every bass he caught, but not until hi kissed it (or seemed to kiss it).  When E-Man begin kissing fish, she thought it a little strange, but she really got concerned–thought he’d gone overboard–when he kissed sharks. Not only did his breath smell “sharky,” but what if the shark wasn’t really dead and bit his lip or nose? How would she explain that to the neighbors . . . .?  David, Sf.G.

Up In Smoke

Clearly, some were happy with the election results; others saw their dreams going up in smoke. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Git Along Little Dogies

Jordan, who worked in an office in North Texas, loved cows, but seldom got to be around them.  Then, one day, while visiting friends south of Houston and on the way to the beach, she came upon a cattle drive.  Her hosts were nervous that the cows would take too long and not give them enough time at the beach, but Jordan said, “We can wait,” and started singing, “Git along, little dogies…” . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Calculating Dog Years

When Snuffy the Wonder Dog applied for his pilot’s license, he was told that 4 years old was not sufficient; you had to be at least 16.  When Snuffy tried to explain the concept of dog years (7 dog years for each human year, actually making him 28) to the bureaucrat, it seemed like the man’s eyes just sort of glazed over. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

A Little Crabby

It had been meant to be a fun family gathering to watch the Texans/Ravens match, but as the non-stop political ads kept coming, so did the political polarization of the family. The wrangling and bickering never ended; in fact, it might be said by game’s end they were all a little crabby. . . . .  David, Sf.G.
