Upon Reflection

When the photographer from Texas asked to take Bruce’s picture, promising to send him a print, he thought why not?  Upon reflection, he thought that it would probably end up in National Geographic, the photographer getting big bucks, and Bruce getting  nothing but a copy of the magazine and a photo he could frame . . .

No Illegals

Hearing about the influx of unaccompanied children coming across the Rio Grande River into Texas gave Ike, who lives in Northern Idaho next to the Canadian border, reason for concern. He was pretty sure the thought of swimming across the glacier-fed lake would act as a deterrent for the pesky Canadian kids, but nonetheless, he spent most of his daylight hours in his pickup, watching. Just in case . . .

Problem Solved

Bobby Jim, a Texas resident who lived just outside Houston, kept hearing promises about a fix for oil shortages.  In typical Texas tradition, he took action in his back yard–problem solved . . .

Lovin’ Spoonbills

The girls, desperately wanting to launch their music careers, all agreed that John Sebastian and the Lovin’ Spoonfuls from the late 1960’s and 70’s  were the best.  They thought that they might gain some brand recognition by calling themselves the Lovin’ Spoonbills.  They were currently working on their version of  Summer in the City . . .”Hot time, summer in the city . . .”

Cow Years

After a little research on the Internet, Leroy (black, far right) had found that there were two kinds of cow years–Mama cows and milkers as well as herd bulls lived about 80 cow years that equated to about 15 human years, but “market cattle”  crammed all 80 cow years into about two human years.  As he approached his second year and second round up, he was more than a little concerned which cow years he would live . . .

When Lefty heard that Bollywood was going to make a new Indian version of Star Wars, he got on the next flight for Mumbai to try out for the part of C-3PO.  His high-pitched insect voice even sounded sort of like the lovable robot . . .
