Wrong Goalkeeper

When Ernest told his beer drinking buddies he had applied for and been rejected as goalkeeper for the U.S. Football ( Soccer) team for the World Cup, they all laughed and pointed out you had to be quick, lithe, and agile to be a winning goalkeeper.  Once the U.S. was out, Earnest was quick to point out to his buddies that their theory on quick, lithe, and agile versus bulky hadn’t worked out all that well, had it . . . ?

Name Change

When Johnnelle heard that the Washington Redskins had had their Redskins name and logo trademarks  cancelled–supposedly five Native Americans were offended–she emailed the club explaining that she had gone on Facebook and Twitter to poll her fellow butterflies.  Turns out none objected to having a major football club (pointy ball, not round) named after them.  The name “The Butterflies” was theirs for the taking . . .

Busted Flipper

Not An SR71 Blackbird

Since birds couldn’t play football (either American or Soccer) or baseball, while growing up, they liked to play flying games, imitating fighter jets. Fast turns, diving, flying almost straight up–what a good time! Henry dearly wanted to have his friends call him SR71 after the famous SR71 Blackbird super spy plane. His buddies, though, said, “Get used to disappointment; until you can fly 2,000 MPH at 70,000 feet, we’re just going to call you Henry.”
