Bad Hair

Twyla Sue wanted to blame it on a “Bad Hair Day,” but in truth, her hair looked like this every day.  She saw three choices; use 3 liters of hair goop every day after showering, shave her head and call it a political statement, or try to promote it as “windblown” or “carefree”.. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Lil’ Buddies

Sure they were blue, not pink, and sure they were little, but Patty didn’t care what her other friends said; she loved her little buddies, and she wasn’t going to turn her back on them no matter what.  She was pretty sure it was either Confucius or Sun Tzu that said “You only bloom once; make the best of it.” . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Wrong Color

Lionel wasn’t blue politically, and he wasn’t red, but that didn’t mean he was a hybrid–some of both.  In fact, he kinda’ liked Worf, from Star Trek, with maybe Barney (Purple Barney from Sesame Street, not Barney Frank) as Worf’s running mate.  Maybe Miley Cyrus as Secretary of State and Lady Gaga as Secretary of Defense  . . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Play Misty for Me

The girls at the office decided they needed a girls’ night out. They chose a nightclub that not only served great food and generous drinks, it also had a certified piano-playing lounge lizard who took requests. Cathy, the leader of the group, slipped the waiter $20 for the piano player with the request, “Play Misty for me” . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Budding

Teenaged Rita was budding into a real beauty and, like most teenagers, was ready to spread her wings (petals?).  Her mother just hoped her intelligence, judgment, and common sense would keep pace, and that she would remember that indiscriminate cross-pollinating brought all sorts of problems. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Choices

Linda Lou was in a quandary. Should she get nectar from the pink or the white things on this flower?  She liked to imagine that the pinks were strawberry and the whites French Vanilla, but where was the chocolate? . . . . .  David, Sf.G.
