A selection of Various Birds
Camo Phase
Teenage years can be a challenge for young ones; Eugene was going through that difficult kid-to-adult coloration transition, but with cheerful aplomb, he just told everyone that deer hunting season was almost here and he was perfecting his camo look. . . . . David, Sf.G.
No Braces
The dentist visiting the Texas Gulf Coast for the winter had kindly offered to provide braces at no cost to straighten Lucinda’s beak for that slick Hollywood look. However, she reasoned that the curve in her beak gave her character, and she didn’t want to put up with the teasing having braces would certainly generate for her two last years of high school. . . . . Snow Diet
Robin (his folks had a bizarre sense of humor) had gotten a little thick in the middle and decided to try the radical new diet he had seen on Dr. Oz–the snow diet. The snow diet was just snow and had no calories, no fats, no protein, no carbs, no artificial color, artificial flavor, or scent, and no gluten. He lost weight fast but had to be reminded that the directions said that after the first week, you may feel a little light headed or dizzy so not to fly or operate heavy equipment. . . . David, Sf.G.
Elvis Impersonator
Tex had been too embarrassed to sing very loud in high school, but with the anonymity of a Karaoke bar, all restraints were lifted. Tex had prepared a series of Elvis songs, including Jail House Rock and Heartbreak Hotel, and he thought he sounded pretty good. His friends who were honest enough to speak frankly said, “No, it was more like a combination of Bob Dylan and Madonna with Tom Jones overtones”. . . . . David, Sf.G.
Dance of the Duck Butts
There was a sense of celebration in the air! Finally, it was time for the Annual Dance Of The Duck Butts. . . . . David, Sf.G.
Avoiding Buffets
Normally, Jeannette avoided buffets like the plague–mediocre food, lukewarm, and who knows what somebody before you left in it–but everyone said this one was different, and with the line-up waiting to get in, maybe it was . . . . . David, Sf.G.
