Lifestyle Change

Charlie was thinking of a major lifestyle change–going vegan at least two days a week.  All the medical journals said the Atkins-style diets, with all the red meat you can eat, had bad long term health effects.  He knew the rodents that composed the bulk of his diet were red meat, but he wasn’t too sure about snakes or frogs.  Still, even though it was good for him (or so they said), the idea of eating berries, fruits, seed, nuts or grass was making this a hard decision.  And what would the neighbors say? . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Winds of Change

Patrick had always been a party guy–no wife and family for him–“party on, dude” was his motto.  One day he noticed that all his friends and party buddies were married and had kids, and he began to wonder if maybe the winds of change weren’t making him lean in that direction as well. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Center Stage

While Angie didn’t have a bad voice and looked pretty darn good, she was no Cher or Madonna–not even Cyndie Lauper–but still she had to be center stage, out front whenever the girls got together to do Karaoke.  She had dreams of a recording contract, maybe even the movies, but her friends knew how that would end up: Prom queen this year, three babies, an ex-jock husband working at the mill, and a minivan in five years.  Oh well, they thought,  it  doesn’t hurt to dream. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

Lyndon, not having a lot of hair to worry about, seldom looked in a mirror, but  one day he did and, to his horror, saw all those yellow spots, and immediately thought he must have measles.  His lack of a good classical education and the subsequent knowledge gap made him worry so he went to the emergency room only to be told, “Don’t worry, be happy!” by the Jamaican doctor.  . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Styling Gel

Lenny was just coming up on his first year as an adult, mature enough to find a chick and get serious, but who, he wondered, would take seriously some young guy with fly-away breeding plumage?  Maybe some styling gel could put a little order in his personal grooming regimen . . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Cross Pollination

Helen was confused and perhaps a little jealous; her distant cousins the tomatoes, lettuce, and peas could pollinate themselves, no one else needed.  She wondered, depending on how the Supreme Court ruled on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California’s proposition eight regarding the legality of same sex marriage, would her far flung self pollinating cousins maybe be able to marry themselves?  . . . .  David, Sf.G.
