Secret DARPA Project

A little known DARPA project involved using “black budget” money for modifying dragonflies to act as miniature drones to gather data in sensitive areas.  So far though, the dragonfly’s somewhat erratic flight pattern, designed to catch and eat mosquitoes,  has thus far yielded little usable  data.

Obamacare Approved

Surprisingly, when Jim, a Montana farmer, checked the fine print in the new Affordable Health Care Law, he found that architectural orthopedic care was available for historical barns like his (Page 2309, paragraph 3, subsection 21-b), but there was a waiting list. Once the architectural orthopedics facility being built in Hanover, New Hampshire was completed–which was expected to be not later than July 2037–Jim could bring his barn, but, of course, all transport costs were to be borne by the historical artifact (barn) owner.  There was also a panel that would decide which historical artifacts (barns) would be accepted and which would be simply torched, even though torching may contribute to global warming. The Government insisted this was not an architectural “death panel”  . . .

Slither Power

Tod’s friends all were pushing him to run for something–anything–in the upcoming mid term elections.  He was qualified, he had real slither power, could speak with a forked tongue, and change positions almost instantly, but his heart just wasn’t in it.  He really wanted to be a photographer, and if he didn’t have hands to hold a camera, how could he accept the back handed “campaign money” and later “consulting fees”, or just old fashioned “glad handing . . . ‘

New Party

Kathleen was tired of the wrangling between the Red  and Blue parties and occasionally the Independents and and the Liberterians (who knew what color they claimed to be?). And then for years, Ralph Nader had championed the limp, ineffectual Green party.  Why not have a new party–the white and pink flower party– instead of trillion dollar budgets, all flowers needed was water, sunlight, and fertilizer (and the present politicians had plenty of that).

Mixed Signals

Charlie, Hubie, and Chris had taken the dare to be the first to climb to the top of the about-to-open thistle and get back down between classes.  They seemed to lack the spirit of cooperation–a problem with mixed signals between them.  “Sorta like the Executive Branch of government and the Legislative Branch,” opined one wag . . .

Sacred Cow

When filing her application for a U S residence visa, Neepa put “sacred cow” in the occupation box.  She quickly got a rejection notice with a note that said between politicians on both sides of the aisle, special interest groups, lobbyists and mainstream religious groups, they  had plenty of sacred cows, thank you . . .
