No Illegals

Hearing about the influx of unaccompanied children coming across the Rio Grande River into Texas gave Ike, who lives in Northern Idaho next to the Canadian border, reason for concern. He was pretty sure the thought of swimming across the glacier-fed lake would act as a deterrent for the pesky Canadian kids, but nonetheless, he spent most of his daylight hours in his pickup, watching. Just in case . . .

To more than a few, it looked like the Arizona desert was giving the sunset a thumbs up, well done . . .

In the Rough

When Llewellyn had booked his Texas golf vacation, he had been intrigued by the description of the Blue Elbow Swamp course (just west of the Louisiana border) that had been billed as “In the rough”.  Turns out the claim wasn’t just hyperbole, and there was no extra charge for the opportunity to mingle with the gators or cottonmouth water moccasins.

Cheerleading Camp

The girls were so excited to be at a real professional cheerleading camp; it had cost their parents a bundle.  They seemed to take to the regimen fairly well, but getting everybody to synchronize all of their moves had proved to be more difficult than they had imagined . . .

Dismal Failure

Lyndon Johnson’s wife, Lady Bird, had enjoyed huge success when she planted wild flowers along along many of the Texas highways, creating a stunning sight every spring.  Her attempt to reforest lower Manhattan along the Hudson River hadn’t enjoyed the same success. . .

March Madness

Brett (center, third row)  had finally succumbed to March Madness and the college basketball fever, but he was still having a little trouble with the bracketing thing and arranging the seeds.
