Concealment

Timothy had recently seen on the Nature Channel that the big African cats used the tall grass for concealment, allowing them to sneak up on prey, thus making them the apex hunters.  Conceptually, the idea sounded reasonable to Timothy, but using the tall grass to help conceal him when catching minnows and frogs didn’t seem to help as much as he had hoped . . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Crowd Control

The tailgaters had gotten so rowdy at the Texans’ football pregame party, it finally became necessary to call for crowd control. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Florida Calling

Tina had waited a little longer than her friends to go south for the winter, thinking there might be a late bug hatch that would make it worthwhile. The hatch never happened, the wind, sleet, and snow did, and all she could think of was “Florida’s calling” . . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Tax Avoidance

Stuart paid his taxes with only a minimum of grumbling; he understood the government needed to be funded, but when the Environmental Protection Agency slapped a new tax on all fresh fish (and not even just the endangered ones), he knew he was going to be guilty of tax avoidance . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Don’t Forget . . .

As he came in the front door and was met by his wife Twyla, Howie couldn’t help but remember (too late) his wife’s text with a list of needed things before the stores closed for the holiday.    He then remembered that he had not only forgotten to stop at the store, but had forgotten his  cell phone on his desk at work; maybe one too many toddies at the office party was Twyla’s guess. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Shortcut

While examining the damage to the barrier islands on New Jersey’s coast, Ginny, one of the Governor’s aides, thought that she would skip the sidewalk and take what appeared to be a shortcut.  She was just glad that she hadn’t worn the Jimmy Choo’s. . . . .  David, Sf.G.
