No Takers

Seeing many professional and college athletic teams bowing to political correctness and changing their names from a Native American variation to something else caused Howard make a concerted effort to get one of the teams to be named “The Cottontails” but had no takers.  He thought them shortsighted.  Cottontails were fast– legendary sprinters–and could (and would) really dig in when the going got rough.  What more could a team ask for in a mascot and namesake?

New Mascot

Edwin had seen a segment of the news talking about the use of names like Warriors, Braves, or Redskins, and how the ACLU was suing everyone in sight for “disrespecting” Native Americans, and so he went to the local college to offer himself as the new mascot.  The basketball team embraced the idea and quickly explained to Edwin that in addition to mascot duty, he could play an active part in the game . . .
