A New Perspective

Kenny, a corn and soybean farmer from Iowa, had always been proud of how hard he worked to get the best possible yield from his 640 acres, especially this year after the combine’s MP3 player and the A/C both broke on the last day of the soybean harvest.   And then, while on a hard won vacation visiting India and driving through the foothills of the Himalayas, he began to get a new perspective on hard work . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Wrong Turn

While heading for a tailgating party at the Huskers football game, Joel had gotten quite caught up in a talk show program about politics. It wasn’t until his wife pointed out the low fuel light, and the kids asked, “Are we there yet?”  that he looked up to see where he was. As he looked around,  he was pretty sure it wasn’t the Huskers stadium. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

House of Sticks

As much as he hated to admit it, Brother Practical Pig had been right about the house made of sticks; it hadn’t worked out all that well, and the big bad wolf hadn’t even been here yet.  The brick concept  did seem to have some merit. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Upside Down

Upside Down
When young Lester got home from school one day he heard his father sounding somewhat hysterical and asked why.  His father said, ” I got downsized today, lost my pension, and the bank is going to repo the house; my whole world is upside down.”  Young Lester said, “I know what you mean; I sometimes feel that way; let me show you”. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Possible Sasquatch Sighting

As Jimmy watched the forest from the back seat of his dad’s car while they drove through Stanley Park in Vancouver, he saw something in the mist; he was sure it was a Sasquatch.  His dad was doubtful, he said that sighting a Sasquatch was rarer than seeing an honest politician.. . . .  David, Sf.G.

Should’a Made a Right . . .

Some time back, LaVerne and his girlfriend Lucille, from Tennessee, thought that since they didn’t have jobs anyway, they should maybe head up to New York and join the “Occupy” crowd. Maybe they would get noticed by the TV guys and get offered a part in one of “Reality” shows.  They didn’t have a GPS, and Lucille wasn’t much of a navigator, so they made a left on US Hwy 2 and ended up in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Somehow, getting to New York or a part in a reality show didn’t seem that important any more . . . .  David, Sf.G.
