Life Expectancy

Twyla Sue knew, without doubt, she was a beauty and destine to go places, but she was concerned that such a large percentage of beautiful people seemed to die early.  Marylin Monroe, Elvis, Michael Jackson, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Bob Marley, John Belushi and Natalie Wood, all gone before their time.  Yet the President, in spite of her repeated letters and emails, had done nothing to get the Surgeon General to look into greater longevity for the beautiful people . . .

New Olympic Sport

Hideo Yamaguchi was very frustrated; he couldn’t get the International Olympics to listen to his idea.  They had no problem accepting Judo, Karate, Kung Fu and other martial arts sports, why wouldn’t they consider flower arranging as a summer sport?

Gina was confused; there seemed to be a conflict between her science teacher’s viewpoint and that of her history teacher.  The history teacher told the class that Karl Marx had preached that religion was the opium of the people, yet clearly, her science teacher showed her that her family–the poppies–were the source of opium . . .

Darth Vader Impersonator

Kenny had been talked into going in a Darth Vader costume to the Star Wars convention by his friends, including the drama teacher from his community college.  They told him the dark makeup would wash right off, but apparently they hadn’t read the directions–it didn’t come right off.  Always ready to help, they then suggested he compete in the dark star or black hole competition . . .

Claustrophobic

Jerome knew his job was to get the pollen, but he much preferred open, flat flowers.  Being claustrophobic, he didn’t like elevators, small cars, or the middle or window seat on an airplane either.  As he prepared to dive in, he remembered that his therapist told him he was making progress, but sometimes you just had to face a fear head on . . .
