End of the World

While visiting the Texas Gulf Coast for the first time, Hank had fallen asleep on the porch in the rocking chair on the warm February afternoon and  had awakened with a start.  Was that the end of the world or just one of those fancy Texas sunsets he’d heard so much about? . . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Always the Same

Timmy wasn’t too sure about “Hope and Change” in a political sense, but he thought  he should be able to effect some change on something if he tried hard enough.  In spite of that, his blog “Make the sun set in the south” just wasn’t getting any petition signers; in fact, there were almost no hits on the blog at all.  It was always the same–the sun sank in the west, and nobody cared. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Tough Landing

Apparently, the Daleks had somehow sabotaged some system in the Tardis, and Dr. Who was anticipating a rougher than usual landing near the Houston NASA site.  He couldn’t help but wonder how the guys from BBC’s Top Gear would handle the situation . . . .  David, Sf.G.

A Question of Perspective

Jaime, 7, had heard about eclipses from his teacher and was more than a little excited to actually be able to see a solar eclipse from his yard.  When the sun sank before the moon was completely up, producing only a partial eclipse, Jaime suggested that next time they should get on the roof so they were closer; maybe the view would be better. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Fading Fast

Just before the big housing crunch, Jim had taken out a home equity loan and then lost his good-paying, long-time job and his pension with it.  Now he was working at WalMart, and it felt like he was quickly losing ground.  As he saw the sunset that evening, it reminded him that his dreams of early retirement seemed to be fading fast. . . . .  David, Sf.G.
