YMCA Blues

Chico (third from right, fourth row)  only went to the “Y” because his mother made him; she claimed it would help hone his socializing skills.  In Chico’s mind, he was doing just fine socially, and when he swam in the creek by himself, there was no one peeing in the water.

I Feel Pretty

When Elise’s boyfriend dumped her, she was left feeling ugly and unloved.  To help her, her friends paid for a trip to the day spa for her.  She couldn’t believe how the pampering, the mud packs and mani-pedi recharged her self esteem.  As she walked to her car, she couldn’t help but burst out in song–“I feel pretty, oh so pretty. . .”

Keeping His Head Above Water

Michael, when asked, “How Y’all doing, Mikey?” always tried to sound positive, but between an acrimonious divorce, spousal and child support, losing his insurance  and an expensive new girlfriend–not to mention the payments on his Corvette and bass boat–was barely keeping his head above water . . .

Slurpee Blues

Eloise was a little on edge; she was addicted to Blue Ice Slurpees, but every time she went to the bathroom or the copiers, her workmates would hide her Slurpee.  They didn’t steal it or contaminate it, they just hid it.  Eloise didn’t always find them and had nightmares about hundreds of unfinished Slurpees with dead cockroaches floating in them, and her manager finding them and blaming her.   Would they have to call in Hazmat?
