All Seafood Diet

Imogene had learned in her natural history class that Willets like her had an all seafood diet, but, she reasoned, they didn’t get all the seafood available.  No catfish nuggets, coconut shrimp, lobster bisque  and no fish sticks or McDonald’s Filet of Fish sandwiches . . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Tough to Swallow

It was a tough day; Lyndsie had finally come out of the closet and told her family she was Vegan.  They found it tough news to swallow. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Home Alone

Eugene’s mom was a good provider, out getting rodents and reptiles all day to feed the family.  This left Eugene with a lot of time on his hands to watch daytime TV–Dr. Oz, Ellen, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Days of Our Lives–and while he knew it wasn’t real life, the commercials made Honey Nut Cheerios and Progresso soups seem pretty good; how could he get Mom to try some of that for a change? . . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Looking Over His Shoulder

To get a larger tax refund, Jurgen’s girl friend (now ex-girlfriend) had encouraged him to claim the interest payments on his home mortgage, even though he was almost a year in arrears on payments and about to be foreclosed on.  She talked Jurgen into using the money for a Mexican vacation in Cancun, but now, with the house gone, he was looking over his shoulder wondering when the tax man was going to come and get him.  . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Balanced Diet

Eustace was beginning to think that a balanced diet was largely influenced by one’s perspective–the first lady encouraged fruit such as apples, cherries, and melon, and vegetables like cabbage or green beans as part of a balanced diet.  From his view, a balanced diet was getting the right mix of field mice, cotton rats, snakes, frogs and the odd vole, and while he conceded that his diet might be a little protein heavy, he felt the fact that most of his diet choices were vegetarian themselves should count for something. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Owl Years

Cyndie, while watching Cesar Millan, the “Dog Whisperer”, heard him trying to clarify the concept of “dog years” .  He indicated that each dog year is thought to be 7-7 1/2 human years by researchers at the University of Phoenix (on line) and others.  Cyndie wondered how that translated to owl years or even if any research had been done.  Maybe this could be the subject for her doctoral thesis . . . .  David, Sf.G.
