Eugene’s mom was a good provider, out getting rodents and reptiles all day to feed the family. This left Eugene with a lot of time on his hands to watch daytime TV–Dr. Oz, Ellen, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Days of Our Lives–and while he knew it wasn’t real life, the commercials made Honey Nut Cheerios and Progresso soups seem pretty good; how could he get Mom to try some of that for a change? . . . . .
