Light My Fire

Herby always hummed as he worked in the yard, sometimes one of Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos–say, #6 in B flat–or Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five”, or the Rolling Stones’ “Harlem Shuffle”.  For some reason, he just couldn’t get Jim Morrison and the Doors’ “Come On Baby, Light My Fire” out of his head tonight . . .

Worst Insult

Burt was glad the sun was setting on this day–first he had a flat tire on the way to work making him over an hour late, then his boss berated him for someone else’s mistake, then he got a speeding ticket on the way home (he was in a hurry to get his wife the groceries she needed to make dinner), and when he had gotten some items wrong, she told him that In addition to everything else, he was stupid and useless, and he wasn’t any good at either of those either . . .
