Straighten Up, Girl!

Chloe and Kimmee had convinced their mother to let them go to the party after the wedding rehearsal, but maybe they had more of those fruity drinks with umbrellas than they should have. Now they were almost an hour after their mother’s fairly generous curfew. “Straighten up, girl,” said Kimmee to Chloe, “or Mom will never let us out till we’re 50 or get married ourselves . . .

Not Satchmo

Huey and Dwayne had to admit it, their buddy Louis (center) was one heck of a trumpet player, Jazz, blues, and classical; in fact he was the one that had gotten them the summer gig in the trumpet section with the Canadian Brass doing a traveling J. S. Bach recital featuring Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor.  But they still weren’t going to call him Satchmo when the chicks were around.. . . .  David, Sf.G.
