Waiting for the Big One

Looking forward to retirement, Buddy and Marge had bought an ocean front lot in Arizona through an Internet Real Estate sales site.  The lot price had seemed quite reasonable for ocean front property, but when they went to see their new lot, they found it was just desert.  The salesman explained that if they had bothered to read the fine print, it had been sold as future ocean front, it wouldn’t  be ocean front until California had the “Big One” and fell into the Pacific.  That, he explained, might not happen until the next election when Arnold beat Jerry Brown . . .

Two Out of Three

JoAnn had won the mayoral election for Bannock, Montana, and with only two votes; not two more that the closest opponent, just two out of three total votes.  But, hey, two out of three ain’t bad. . .

Wrong Color

Lionel wasn’t blue politically, and he wasn’t red, but that didn’t mean he was a hybrid–some of both.  In fact, he kinda’ liked Worf, from Star Trek, with maybe Barney (Purple Barney from Sesame Street, not Barney Frank) as Worf’s running mate.  Maybe Miley Cyrus as Secretary of State and Lady Gaga as Secretary of Defense  . . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Down and Dirty

When Jesse announced that she was going to get into politics and run for office, her mentor and several close friends warned her that it was a down and dirty game, but she had never thought it could get this bad.  . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Future Unclear

The Princess Buttercup hoped her snow globe would be like the crystal ball she kept hearing that politicos from Washington DC used to project winning candidates, and hedge fund managers from Wall Street relied on to project stock picks.  No matter how hard she concentrated or peered into the thing, the picture didn’t seem to change very much.   Perhaps, she thought, her future lay elsewhere than the prognostication business . . . . .  David, Sf.G.
