Poas

Water Runs Downhill

Chester’s wife Chloe was a reader and fact gatherer, but she really liked to pontificate.  She had read seven different versions or translations of the Bible, read the Koran twice, the Bhagavad Gita and the I Ching once each, and had gotten half way through the Encyclopedia Britannica before it went online.   Chester was more of a beer and sports sort of guy, so when she saw the little mountain creek on the way to the Poas volcano in Costa Rica and started  to tell him about the water cycle, he said, “Wait, I know three things:  Friday is payday, water runs downhill and beer is a vital source of vitamin P.  That’s all I need for now, thank you very much. . . . .  David, Sf.G.

Not From Starbucks?

While vacationing in Costa Rica and on the way to Poas, the volcano, Liz pointed out the coffee farms (fincas) to her daughter, eight year old Holly, and told her that’s where coffee comes from.  Looking perplexed, Holly asked, “It doesn’t come from Starbucks?” . . . .  David, Sf.G.
