Missing Lady Gaga

Sadly, Lake Waubesa in McFarland, Wisconsin missed hosting Lady Gaga and her fiance’s first polar bear ice water plunge.  It seems that Lake Waubesa was covered with a solid sheet of ice, unlike Lake Michigan in Chicago (where the deed happened), which had ice chunks but wasn’t completely frozen.  None of the ice fisherman on Lake Waubesa could drill a hole big enough for the Lady to plunge in on her boy friend’s back, much less get back out . . .

Ice Fishing

The guys from Wisconsin were a little peeved; the International Olympics committee were not going to approve ice fishing as a new Olympic sport.  It didn’t seem fair–curling, all types of skating, the luge, bob sledding and skiing were all ice and snow sports, and the biathlon was just cross country skiing and shooting.  Sure, Jamaica, Egypt, and Dubai were at a bit of a disadvantage for places to practice in the off season, but then that applied to curling, skating, and skiing too.  Besides, what other sport provided fried fish or sushi for snacks after the event . . . ?

Ice Fishing

When Jim Bob from the Texas Gulf Coast went to Wisconsin in January to visit his uncle, he saw quite a few men out on the frozen lake and was told they were ice fishing.  “Why,” Jim Bob asked “did they have to fish for ice when they clearly had a whole lake full of the stuff; if they needed ice that bad, why not just go to the convenience store?”. . .
