Just Grin and Bear It

Bruce (pictured) had always wanted to be a bear; in fact, until he went to school and learned otherwise, he really did think he was a bear.  After reading a self help book that kept repeating, “You can be what you want to be if you want it bad enough,” Bruce tried to do the bear-like thing & catch fish for dinner. He thought his owner empowered him when he said to “just grin and bear it . . .”

April Fools’

Andy was tired; no, worse, he couldn’t bear another April fools’ day joke.  He was pretty sure his wife hadn’t left him for a clown, was pretty certain his boss hadn’t fired him and hired the same clown to replace him, and the clown hadn’t sold his children to wandering gypsies . . .

Bear Market

Julius had heard over the weekend on one of the Sunday Morning TV interview shows that we were now in a “Bear Market.”  He hadn’t realized that it was legal to trade bears; was this going to be on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange?  Would there be puts and calls and bear futures contracts?  And most important, how would buyers take delivery?. . . .  David, Sf.G.

There Goes the Neighborhood

Jack could only stand there and shake his head sadly; the Forest Service people were putting up signs that said the area would be open to ATV’s in the summer and Snowmobiles in the winter.  He hadn’t minded the loggers so much, they came, cut and then left, but this had a more permanent feel to it.  All he could say was, “There goes the neighborhood” . . . .  David, Sf.G.
